Usage History ​

Usage History turns the daily disk and bandwidth figures into charts, so you can see whether an account has been growing steadily or jumped overnight.

Added in AdminBolt 1.7.0.

Overview ​

The charts are on the hosting account's View page: Disk Usage History (MB) and Bandwidth History (MB/day). Retention is configured in Panel Settings, under the Usage History tab.

Where the numbers come from ​

Once a day the panel records each account's disk usage, database size and transfer into a snapshot. The charts are drawn from those snapshots, so the history starts on the day the feature was first available on the server, not earlier.

A day the panel could not collect is drawn as a gap in the line rather than smoothed over, so a monitoring outage is visible as one instead of looking like a quiet day.

Reading the charts ​

  • Disk Usage History (MB) shows how much space the account occupies over time, including its databases.
  • Bandwidth History (MB/day) shows the transfer recorded for each day, so a traffic spike stands out as a single tall day.

A steadily rising disk line usually means logs, backups or mail that nobody prunes. A single vertical jump is more often one large upload or a restore.

Reseller dashboard ​

The reseller dashboard shows real disk and bandwidth totals across the reseller's own accounts, with their trend, drawn from the same snapshots.

Retention ​

Panel Settings → Usage History → Usage history retention (days) decides how long the daily snapshots are kept, counting today. The default is 90 days.

The charts themselves always show the last 30 days. Retention decides how much history is kept behind them, which matters for the reseller dashboard totals and for anything that reads the snapshots later. Shortening it removes older snapshots on the next cleanup.
