SpamExperts

The SpamExperts page switches incoming spam filtering on and off per domain. With filtering on, mail for that domain is cleaned by the filtering cluster before it is delivered to your mailboxes.

Added in AdminBolt 1.7.0.

Overview

URL: /client/spam-experts

The page sits under Emails → SpamExperts. It appears only when your hosting provider offers SpamExperts and your hosting plan includes it.

Client SpamExperts page with per-domain filtering

Reading the list

Every domain and parked domain on your account is listed with its filtering state:

StateMeaning
OffMail goes straight to the mail server, filtered only by the server's own spam checks
PendingThe change has been requested and is being applied
ActiveMail is filtered by the cluster before delivery
Failed, will retryThe change did not complete; the panel retries it automatically for a while, and gives up after several failed attempts

Enable filtering

Enable filtering on a domain registers it with the filtering cluster and repoints the domain's MX records there.

DNS changes take time to spread, so for up to an hour some senders still deliver to the old route. Mail is not lost during that time: it arrives either filtered or unfiltered, and both paths end at your mailboxes.

Disable filtering

Disable filtering restores the MX records to your own mail server and stops filtering. The same propagation delay applies.

Spam Panel

Once a domain is Active, Spam Panel opens the filtering cluster's own control panel in a new tab, signed in for that domain. That is where you review quarantined mail, release a message that was held, and manage allow and block lists.

The sign-in link is generated fresh on every click and is short-lived, so use the button rather than bookmarking the address it opens.

Using external DNS

If your domain's DNS is hosted somewhere else, the panel cannot change the MX records for you. The page lists the cluster's mail server hostnames and their priorities so you can copy them into your DNS provider by hand.
