Softaculous ​

The Softaculous page installs the Softaculous auto-installer module and opens its own admin interface. Softaculous installs and manages web applications with one click, including CMS platforms, blogs, and e-commerce tools.

Softaculous before the module is installed

Overview ​

URL: /admin/settings/softaculous

Navigate to Settings > Tools > Softaculous. The entry appears in that group only once the module is installed; before that, reach the page by its address or from Modules in the sidebar.

Description ​

Softaculous is an auto installer for website application scripts.

It provides a user-friendly interface and automation features for installing, updating, and backing up popular web applications such as WordPress, Joomla, Magento, and others. Ideal for hosting providers and developers who want to reduce manual setup and improve deployment time.

Before installation ​

On a server without the module, the page states that Softaculous is not installed and offers a single Install action. The same module can be installed from Application Modules (/admin/modules).

Installed view ​

Once the module is installed, the page becomes a launcher with one action:

  • Open Softaculous - opens the Softaculous admin panel in a new browser tab. From there you can browse the script library, install applications, and manage existing installations.

The page itself only acts as a launcher. All script installation and management happens inside the Softaculous admin panel that opens in the new tab.

When the Softaculous application is missing ​

Since panel 1.9.3 the install checks that the Softaculous application itself is in place on the server, not only its package. When the application is missing, the install fails and the install log quotes the reason the Softaculous installer gave, for example that it detected another control panel or could not download its files. The module stays uninstalled, so Modules offers Install again.

The panel counts Softaculous as installed only when Open Softaculous can open it. On a server that has the package but not the application, for example after an earlier install that did not finish, this page shows the Install view with "The module is recorded as installed, but the Softaculous application files are missing. Installing again removes the package and installs it from scratch." Install then repairs it. On a server where Softaculous works, Install leaves the installed application as it is.

The administrator API ​

Since panel 1.9.4, GET /api/admin/softaculous reads the state of this page and the link to the Softaculous admin panel. installed is the page's check that the Softaculous application is really there, and module_installed is what the module record says. POST /api/admin/softaculous/install runs Install, which is offered while the application is missing, also when the module record still says installed. It answers at once with an operation to follow at GET /api/admin/modules/operations/{operationId}.
