DNS Health ​

Overview ​

The DNS Health page allows you to check the DNS configuration of your domains. Run health checks to identify configuration errors and warnings that may affect domain functionality.

Checking Domain Health ​

Hosting Account Domains ​

The main section displays a table of all domains on your account:

  • Domain - Domain name
  • Health check - The result of the DNS health check of that domain

Since panel 1.9.4 each row is checked on its own as soon as the page opens. A row shows Checking... until its result arrives, then Healthy, the number of issues found, or Unable to verify. Click the result to open the details.

Health Check Results ​

After running a health check, a results modal displays:

  • Summary - Overall health status
  • Records Checked - Number of DNS records validated
  • Errors - Critical issues that prevent proper domain function
  • Warnings - Non-critical issues that may cause problems
  • Status - Shows DNS Zone is Healthy or DNS Zone has Issues for the zone on this server
  • Public DNS - Since panel 1.9.4, what public DNS answers for the domain, with the next step

Within the results, use Show Raw Output to reveal the full unformatted check output, and Close to dismiss the modal.

Search and Filter ​

Use the search bar to find specific domains by name.

Pagination ​

Use the per-page selector to control how many domains are displayed on each page.

How a domain is judged ​

Since panel 1.9.4 a domain is Healthy only when its zone on this server has no issues and public DNS resolves its name to this server. Before 1.9.4 only the zone on this server was checked, so a domain that did not exist in public DNS, or pointed somewhere else, could still show as healthy.

When public DNS does not resolve the domain to this server, the Public DNS section says what it answers instead, for example "domain does not exist in public DNS." or "domain does not point at this server.", lists the addresses the name resolves to, and gives the next step, such as the A record to set at your DNS provider. A domain that is behind a proxy or CDN on purpose shows "does not point at this server" too, and you can ignore it.

Unable to verify means that public DNS could not be asked right now. Nothing is known about the name, so it is not reported as a fault. Try again in a few minutes.

Mail on a free temporary domain ​

Since panel 1.9.4, for a free temporary domain and the names under it, a Mail DNS section checks whether public DNS publishes the domain's MX, SPF, and DKIM records. Public DNS for a free temporary domain publishes its A record only, so mail sent from it may fail SPF and DKIM checks at other mail providers. While a mail record is not published, the domain is not reported as healthy. To send mail, use your own domain and publish its SPF and DKIM records where its DNS is hosted. See Email Accounts.
