Acronis Backup

Acronis Backup lets you restore or download data of the hosting accounts you own from the backups the server administrator takes of the whole server with Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud: files, domains, databases, mailboxes, or a whole account. Available since panel 1.9.3.

These backups are separate from the account backups on the Backups page.

Overview

URL: /reseller/acronis-backups

Open it from Hosting Management > Acronis Backup in the sidebar. The subheading reads "Restore or download the files, databases and mailboxes of your accounts from the server's Acronis backups."

The page is there only when the server is backed up with Acronis and the administrator lets resellers restore the accounts they own. If you do not see it, ask the administrator.

It has two tabs:

  • Backups - the recovery points and what you can restore from them.
  • Operations Log - every restore and download of your accounts.

Choose a recovery point and an account

Backups lists the recovery points by Date and time and Type (Full or Incremental). When the administrator limits how far back you can go, the list says "Recovery points from the last N days."

Open a recovery point, then choose the Hosting account from your own accounts. A recovery point older than the chosen account holds what an earlier account of that name had, so nothing in it is offered for this account, and the page says so.

For the chosen account the recovery point offers:

  • Download the account - the whole account as it was, in one archive: its home directory with mail, its databases, and its settings when the recovery point holds them. The operation's Details say under Account settings (output.json) whether they are Included, without passwords or Not included. It is saved in the acronis-restores folder of the account's home directory.
  • Recover the account - the whole account in one step.

and, under Types: Files, Domains, Databases, and Mailboxes.

What each type offers, and how each option brings data back, is the same as on the client page: see Files, Domains, Databases, Mailboxes, and The whole account. Recovering into a folder means a folder of the account's home directory.

Each restore and download runs in the background and appears in the Operations Log. One restore or download from Acronis runs at a time for an account, and a start that cannot run now says why. The waiting time between restores that the server administrator can set for clients does not apply to the restores you start.

Operations Log

Operations Log lists every restore and download of your accounts, with the same columns, filters, and actions as on the client page, plus an Account column and an Account filter. It covers the accounts you own now: the operations of an account that was terminated are not listed.

Downloads are saved in the acronis-restores folder of the account's home directory. Open the Operations Log and use Download on a finished one.

How far back you and your customers can go

The administrator sets Acronis Backup history for you, in days, on your reseller account. It limits the recovery points you see, and caps what your customers see.

On your own plans, the Acronis Backup history field sets how many days the accounts on that plan may restore from; 0 is no limit. An account gets the stricter of the plan's limit and yours.

Your customers restore their own accounts under Files > Acronis Backup when the plan's feature list includes Acronis Backup, and the administrator lets customers restore. See Acronis Backup for clients.

Over the API

There is no reseller endpoint for Acronis. A reseller API key can call the client Acronis endpoints on behalf of one of your accounts, with the X-Hosting-Account header. The key then answers to your permission and your days limit, not the customer's.
