PHP Selector

The PHP Selector page opens the CloudLinux PHP Selector for your hosting account. There you pick the account's CloudLinux alt-php version and, for that version, its extensions and PHP options.

Overview

URL: /client/cloudlinux-php-selector

Location in Sidebar: Advanced > PHP Selector

The page is available on a CloudLinux server when your hosting provider has installed LVE Manager, has not hidden the PHP Selector, and your hosting plan includes it. When any of these is missing, the entry is not in the sidebar and the page does not open through a direct link either.

The selector itself is CloudLinux's own screen, shown in a frame inside the panel. For its options, see the CloudLinux documentation.

Your websites follow the version you pick

Since panel 1.9.3, a version you pick here applies to your websites as well, not only to the command line and cron jobs:

  • Every domain and subdomain of the account that runs PHP, other than an application's domain, moves to the alt-php version of the release you picked, the same version you could choose for it on Domains. The move goes through the same check as a PHP version change on Domains.
  • native leaves your websites on the PHP versions they have.
  • A version that is not offered for websites changes no website.
  • The most recent change wins. Changing the PHP version of your main domain on Domains sets the PHP Selector to that version, and a later pick here moves the websites again.

Websites do not move the moment you pick a version; give it a minute, then check the PHP version on Domains.

When the change is confirmed

Since panel 1.9.3, saving a version reads it back from CloudLinux to confirm that it was kept. You can pick only the versions your hosting provider offers.

  • When CloudLinux did not keep your choice, the panel applies it for you in the background, and the page says Your PHP version change to the version is being applied. Reload the page in a minute to see the result.
  • When the change cannot be made, the page says the PHP version could not be changed, with a correlation ID. You also get a PHP version change failed notification, and so does your hosting provider. Try again, or contact support and quote the correlation ID.
  • When another PHP version change for the account is still in progress, the selector asks you to try again in a moment.
  • Domains - the PHP version of each domain.
  • Cron Jobs - scheduled commands that run with the account's PHP.
  • SSH Terminal - the command line, which uses the version picked here.
  • CloudLinux - how the PHP Selector and the panel work together, for administrators.
